Jake Allen's best Christmas gift might not come from under the tree this year. Rather it was upon hearing the news that he has made this year World Junior squad

After not playing at all in the game on Thursday night against the CIS Saskatchewan all-star team, one might have thought that was the sign Allen had made this years World Junior Team. It is now evident the staff took Thursday night to try and find Jake's goaltending partner, as Jake Allen has made the 2010 version of Canada's World Junior team.

So far this season Allen has posted impressive numbers during the regular season with his QMJHL team, the Montreal Juniors. In addition, Allen performed strongly this August at the World Junior development camp. His performance this week as well at camp has been certainly up to par. With all of this being said, Jake has accomplished the dream that many of us have, playing for our country at Christmas time.

It is no shock that Jake has arrived at this point in his life. Allen is a young athlete that understands the true sense of the word ‘professionalism’. Even from a young age, Allen was always focused on being better everyday. It is this type of attitude that propels individuals to the top in whatever they do. Allen, continually pushes himself, as he realizes he is not just competing against someone in his own area or region in the world. Goaltending is a global position and if one wants to be on the world stage, you must become one of the best in the world. Plain and simple.

With this we congratulate Jake and his family.

We ask you to stay tuned over the Christmas break and during the tournament as we will have daily coverage of Jake right here on our
site!!

On Saturday, June 21 Jake Allen of Fredericton (QMJHL Montreal) was
drafted into the NHL by St. Louis Blues with the 4th selection in the
second round (# 34 overall).  This marked a first for Alexander Goaltending as Jake was the first goaltender, trained by us, to be drafted into the NHL.

For all of Jake's Midget AAA career and part of his Bantam AAA he
trained with our Director of Goaltending Development, David
Alexander in Fredericton.  Over that period, he also attended several
Moncton Camps & Clinics.  And most recently, prior to him traveling
to Calgary for a Team Canada Junior identification camp, we provided
his pre-camp on ice training.

It is a tribute to Jake's tremendous dedication and focus and his
willingness to sacrifice the "now" for the "future" that allowed him to
achieve this incredible goal.

We salute his efforts and hard work and wish him every success as he
continues his dream of playing in the best hockey league in the world
.........the NHL

This write up on AG client, Jake Allen (Currently ranked #39 overall by Red Line for 2008 NHL Entry Draft) was taken from "Fast Hockey" which is one of the highest profile web sites on hockey in the US.

"The following reports all come from the World Under-18 Championships in Kazan, Russia.

Was truly the star of the entire tournament. Took the No. 1 job and ran with it, never giving the coaches any reason to look elsewhere.

Showed quick legs/pads and a strong glove hand. Moves side-to-side well and is very well balanced in his stance. Anticipates well and showed fine athleticism and flexibility. Angles shots off to corners with both the stick and blocker; overall rebound control is good.

Bounced back well mentally after loss to Russia in round robin play and was superb in the three medal round games, allowing only three total goals and shutting out Russia in the Finals. Never let in any softies all week, and his concentration level was terrific.

Book Release
David & I recently participated with several other coaches from Canada and the US in writing a book, authored by Brian Daccord, called "Hockey Goaltending".  The book is available for order on-line at Amazon and Chapters/Indigo.  It should also be available these book stores within a couple of weeks.  The book covers all aspects of goaltending including off-ice training, equipment and even has a 70 minute DVD included.  We think this would make a great read for any goaltender, coach or goaltender parent.  Once you see it, we're sure you'll agree.
