On Saturday, June 21 Jake Allen of Fredericton (QMJHL Montreal) was
drafted into the NHL by St. Louis Blues with the 4th selection in the
second round (# 34 overall).  This marked a first for Alexander Goaltending as Jake was the first goaltender, trained by us, to be drafted into the NHL.

For all of Jake's Midget AAA career and part of his Bantam AAA he
trained with our Director of Goaltending Development, David
Alexander in Fredericton.  Over that period, he also attended several
Moncton Camps & Clinics.  And most recently, prior to him traveling
to Calgary for a Team Canada Junior identification camp, we provided
his pre-camp on ice training.

It is a tribute to Jake's tremendous dedication and focus and his
willingness to sacrifice the "now" for the "future" that allowed him to
achieve this incredible goal.

We salute his efforts and hard work and wish him every success as he
continues his dream of playing in the best hockey league in the world
.........the NHL

This write up on AG client, Jake Allen (Currently ranked #39 overall by Red Line for 2008 NHL Entry Draft) was taken from "Fast Hockey" which is one of the highest profile web sites on hockey in the US.

"The following reports all come from the World Under-18 Championships in Kazan, Russia.

Was truly the star of the entire tournament. Took the No. 1 job and ran with it, never giving the coaches any reason to look elsewhere.

Showed quick legs/pads and a strong glove hand. Moves side-to-side well and is very well balanced in his stance. Anticipates well and showed fine athleticism and flexibility. Angles shots off to corners with both the stick and blocker; overall rebound control is good.

Bounced back well mentally after loss to Russia in round robin play and was superb in the three medal round games, allowing only three total goals and shutting out Russia in the Finals. Never let in any softies all week, and his concentration level was terrific.

Team Canada goaltender, Jake Allen (QMJHL Saint John Fog Devils)
turned in a remarkable performance as his team captured a Gold Medal
at the World
U 18 Championships in Kazan, Russia.  AG client Allen ended the tournament with
the top GAA
(1.43) and top Save Percentage (94.79) and just one loss.  Allen was also selected as first all-star goaltender by the media in attendance.  This marks the first time since 2003 that Canada has won gold.  (Canada won silver in 2005)   Allen's performance will no doubt move him up the draft list at the upcoming NHL draft being held in Ottawa in June.  Shortly after his return from Russia, Jake is off to Toronto for the annual NHL Combine Testing for prospective NHL draftees.  (Newspaper article)

AG coach, Travis Fullerton, had an amazing run during the QMJLH playoffs with his Saint John

wins in the first two games
against Acadie Bathurst Titans in the
quarter finals...a series Saint John won
by a count of 4 - 2.

Travis was a game star in 6 of those 10 games.

not able to bring the same kind of magic to their next series against the Rouyn-Noranda
Huskies and despite some more Fullerton heroics, fell in 4 straight.

October 17, 2007 AG Coaching expands in MJAHL

AG  Dir. of Goaltending Development, David Alexander, has made the jump to the MJAHL, where he is the goaltending coach for the Miramichi Timberwolves.  Alexander is impressed with the league thus far, but is certainly impressed with the technical abilities of the goaltenders in the league as a whole.  "A significant difference at this level compared to midget is that, in Miramichi we are focusing less on the technical side of things.  We are working on gaining speed and accuracy with everything we do.  Whether it be recovery's, slides, saves, and so forth.  The key to being on top in this league, as I've seen so far, is speed."

And a speedy start for the Timberwovles goaltenders it has been, Evan Mosher is third in the league statically.  Also, this past week saw Scott Fraser win his first start of the season.

"As I've told Evan and Scott, this year I will learn just as much from them, as they will from me.  I certainly look forward to learning more about the league and what it takes to be a sound goalie coach at this level."
